fear not!

In our morning gathering on December 24th, we remembered encounters of Zechariah, Mary, and Joseph with God's messengers (angels). In each, the primary word was Fear not! We also heard again the prophet Isaiah's word to the whole people of God also saying, "Do not be afraid." In thinking about our own lives and the things that are happening or might happen, we also might need this word to resist fear. It's at the center of our scriptural promise. And Christmas embodies this in the vulnerable, tender presence of God in our midst. Together, let us be full of hope instead of fear.
